I've moved out from my old town so DSL is a thing of the past and I'm getting used to the now appearant slowness and poor performance of this dial-up which isnt as good as the dial-up I had with the phone company, not to mention the maddening failures to connect to a new page on a site. I hate getting that mocking crap about the failure to connect and having to try it again a number of times. The FCC does need to let dial-up progress beyond the present 56 K and inferior handling of most sites be they E-mail or excessively fancy sites. I'll check-in from time to time but it wont be like it was with my "old" DSL which itself was as slow ans unreliable as the dial-up I have now until the phone company fixed the bugs in the system three years ago.
What's the worst vacation you've ever taken?
My worst was over a decade and a half ago. I had planned on a nice month of restoring my old Schwinn cruiser and a few other projects. Instead, the week before it was due to start we get a letter from the city that we had to have covered parking for at least one car at our old place we had rented out so we could move. I ended up losing the whole damn month cleaning up after an unnecessary remodeling job(more properly called a butchering job) that my other half had caused a couple of years earlier. I had to restore the damn wall including a new window and door since the old ones ended up in a back patio room. A whole wasted month down the drain!
I had gotten home from work those two years before on my last day before that year's vacation to find the front living room wall's sheetrock busted out. He wanted to expand the damn living room and he wanted me to remove the framing. We lived with that for a year and a half until the place got rented. We had already enclosed the carport section in front of the living room.
Half a decade later I lost over half of that year's vacation cleaning up after my other half's beloved tenants at another place my other half had fallen in love with and bought.
My tax man had said that having those rentals would be a good tax write off, but spending ten to twenty grand to get an extra five grand back and getting sick and infected from changing-out toilets is obviously false economy that kept us living tax refund to tax refund for a decade when we had previously ended up with an extra five grand or more each year in our checking account before the debacle.
Show us whatever it is that makes you happy.
Finding about Vox Hunt before losing it. I just joined Vox.
If you joined the circus, what act would you most want to perform?
As a kid I wanted to be a circus clown but as I grew up by the time I hit eighteen I decided if I ever wanted to be a clown I'd prefer to be a rodeo clown.
